Caso has got a great forestall area around ( more than 13.000 acres), where you casn see the most extraordinary beech forests in Asturias, and also big extensions of chestnut trees and oak trees.
The Redes Park takes most of the area in the municipality of Caso as well as that of the neighbouring locality of Sobrescobio.
The large extensions of land in these mountains (about 8.000 acres of land, most of which are communal lands) are used as grazing ground for cows, from which meat and milk is obtained. There is a native breed of cows in this area called “Casín”, and the milk from these cows is used to make the traditional cheese from this area; this cheese is called “Casín”.
